Has anyone else noticed how many gaming software websites have ridiculously similar download pages?

Some promise guaranteed undetected software, some have almost no documentation and others redirect you through several different websites before downloading anything.

What are the biggest warning signs you look for?

I'm particularly interested in avoiding suspicious executables and fake download pages.

100% undetected forever is enough for me to leave the website lol.

Random password requests are another big one. Why would a download website need my Steam password?

Exactly. Never give out your Steam Guard codes either.

I would also check the actual file source. A nice website doesn't prove the executable is legitimate.

And don't blindly run everything as administrator. Read the Windows permission prompt.

Good advice. Scan suspicious files with reputable security software and don't install extra applications just because a download page tells you to.
